Dragon Sketches
During my 'quiet years', when I didn't do much painting, I kept my
hand in by sketching dragons. Drawing dragons is one of the most relaxing, yet rewarding pastimes. Creating a creature that must be large, yet able to fly but have an almost snake-like flexibility in its body is always going to be a challenge. All of the following images have been lightly
sketched in pencil first to get the pose and layout correct. All the detail is
in ballpoint pen with any traces of pencil erased afterwards. Although these are
very detail (though some of that is lost in the resolution of the images
presented here), these typically take under 10 hours to complete. I've always
thought they'd make good postcards, greeting cards etc.
