The Light Cone - Unfinished
It seems to happen a lot with me! I have an image in my head, so vivid at times that seems real, yet I cannot translate that picture on to paper. It can be so frustrating. I envisaged a landscape of a redundant lighthouse casting light across a dried up ocean. A sea of sand not dissimilar to the ones in 'Dune'. I quickly found that I was getting the effects what I wanted so I tried to retrieve the image by starting to put the ocean there. But I didn't like where the picture was going and I lost heart in what I was doing. As with all my 'failures', I do not necessarily cast them adrift. Rather elements found in them can often reappear in another form and image. This is the case here with the 'Light Cone' being resurrected as 'Barad-dur' a decade later. By the way, the title, 'The Light Cone', comes from the track of the same name from the Edgar Froese (of Tangerine Dream fame) album, 'Pinnacles'. Yet another image sparked by the title of a song. |
