View From A Cave II

View From A Cave II - Copyright Alistair Hamilton

The second of what was to be a series of four images depicting different views from inside a large cavern. Copyright - 1986.

Staedtler Graphic Felt Tip Brushes. 400mm x 310mm.

This image has suffered from the ravages of time and has lost its vibrancy that these pens give. Although these pens are felt tips, their tips are soft and shaped like sable brushes making their use feel much more like painting.

The idea was to create four such 'views' so that each image could be hung on opposing walls of a room as if the the room was the cave which had four openings. The project was never completed mainly because at that time in my artistic career, my style, for what it was, kept changing. This can be seen in the first of the series, 'View From A Cave'. The third and forth images were never started.

I liked the ideas in this image so much that I later recreated it in my normal style as depicted in the picture, 'Castles'.
