Welcome
Started out as an exercise with my new airbrush and quickly incorporated an early attempt at a bit of nudity. Copyright - 1987. Transparent inks and gouache. A1 - 599mm x 840mm. The stone work was all done in gouache, with transparent inks used to create the marble effects. Both the dragon and the nude were hand painted with airbrushed highlights. The dragon's head is unusual in that I normally use a head of a crocodile as the initial basis for a dragon's head. For this one, I wanted the head to be more snake like. I was disappointed with the woman. I couldn't get her pose right. I wanted her to be desperately fighting her chains, trying to escape, recoil from the horror that has appeared before her. In the end I had to settle for this pose where she has effectively accepted her fate, but cannot take her eyes of the monster before her. For a long time, this picture hung in my hallway and was the first thing anyone saw when the first walked in. Hence the title. |
