I have been friends with Glyn since we first met at Heriot Watt University in
1980. We were both studying for a degree in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering and were destined to form a mutual appreciation society for our respective
hobbies. With this in mind it was
perhaps inevitable that I would produce some artwork to reflect his music.
Because of this link between us, and the fact that Glyn was kind enough to let
me use some samples of his work in Dragon Flight, I've dedicated this page to
him.
Discography - including 128K MP3 file samples, where available, with many
thanks to Glyn for permission to host them. All tracks are the copyright of Glyn Lloyd-Jones and are reproduced here with
the kind permission of Glyn Lloyd-Jones and, in the case of 'Ocean of Serenity', Surreal To
Real.

Timelines (formally called 'Icons') - 1986 except
'Deadlines' - 1988.
In it's original form, all the tracks on this album
merged into each other and were simply entitled 'Icons I
- VI'. Later on, Glyn had reason to redo this (if memory
serves me correctly, he had another project on the go
that used part of this album) and as such all the tracks
were separated.
This album was never released and, as far as I am
aware, never will be. Glyn did however take the
opportunity in 2006 to digitally record this album from
the original master tape and renaming it in the process.
Whilst I still prefer the original version with the
tracks merging, I thoroughly enjoy this album and I'm
grateful to Glyn for giving me a CDR of it.

Ri - 1988.
This album has never been released on CD much to my
disappointment and that of many other of Glyn's fans.
However, 2006 saw Glyn getting this down in digital form
from the master tapes which is most welcome.
The latest news for fans is that it is available for download in
192K CD quality MP3 or WAV
formats from SynthMusicDirect.
This remains my favourite Glyn Lloyd-Jones album and
really should be in the collection of everyone who loves
electronic music.

- Nokon Bay (14:57)
- Lucid Dream (23:50) -

Icesteps - 1989.
Yet another album originally only available on
cassette. However, like 'Ri' and 'Timelines' before it,
Glyn has recorded it digitally directly from the master
tapes.
The difference this has made is astounding. I very
rarely listened to this album and was my least favourite
of Glyn's largely due to the poor sound quality of the
cassette. Something Glyn will readily admit too I am
sure. It was like turning your amplifier's tone controls
down and throwing a wet bath towel over your speakers.
The digital treatment given to this has been nothing
short of astounding, bringing a clarity to the music
never before heard. I
have had to reappraise this album in light of that and
would suggest that this is another essential album.
Again, the good news is that like 'Ri', 'Icesteps'
has been made available for download in 192K CD quality
MP3 or WAV formats from SynthMusicDirect.
- Icesteps (27:30) -
MP3
(8:00, 7.51MB)
- Crystal Reflections (27:49) -

Ocean of Serenity - 1994.
This was originally released on CD on the Surreal to
Real label though it may be somewhat difficult to obtain
now.
There really is some extraordinarily beautiful music
on this album and maintains the high standard Glyn as
set for himself since his earliest recordings. Get it if
you can.
- Ocean of Serenity (17:34)
- An Alternative Reality (9:26)
- Return Flite (12:54) -
MP3
(2:38, 2.45MB)

- Hymn (8:18) - MP3

All timings are approximate.

This is not the end of the story...
Glyn recorded another album while we were both at university together.
Entitled 'Mind Music', it has never seen the light of day and only a select few
ever had a cassette copy. I don't know if Glyn still has the master tapes. Even
if he has, it's highly unlikely that it will ever be released.
Glyn is currently working on a new album. His first for over 10 years.
Details will be posted here when further information becomes available.
I did a number of black on white logo designs for Glyn's album Ri. In the
end, none of them where used but I include them here for the sake of
completeness. I inverted the colours on most of them simply because it suited
the feel of the website better. These were done by hand, in the style of the band
logos of the seventies and eigthies (Yes, Asia, Magnum et al) done by Roger Dean and Rodney
Matthews.
